Restoration of the Fiat 128-S Automobile

It’s difficult to judge from a photograph, or to estimate how long it will take to restore a particular automobile. At one point, a young man turned to the International Sporting Club Fiat 128 with the request to send him certain parts for the restoration of the FIAT BERTONE 1X9. The automobile’s body was, at that time, being restored at the RALEX Autoservice garage in Ashdod.
All the mechanical parts, the running parts, the engine, the gear shift, as well as the electrical restoration work, the owner of the automobile planned on doing himself. Having analyzed the photograph and the request for spare parts which had been sent by the owner from Israel, the Italians concluded that “What you are asking for will be necessary no earlier than six months from now”. The specialists were greatly surprised when, one month later, almost all the restoration work had nearly been completed.
The owner of the RALEX Autoservice garage, Rafi Hershkovich, says that to restore automobiles, one needs to have nerves of steel, one needs to love the restoration work immensely, and one needs to see the automobile already restored in his mind’s eye, as if it is standing there, in front of him, between the trees, shining and beautiful…If that can be clearly visualized, the car will certainly come alive!
